When we first walked into the Roxy, we imagined John Kostenchuk taking tickets at the front door and we were ushered to our seats by Myrna Hawkins, Miriam Shulman, May Kostenchuk or one of the Montgomery sisters, Maureen or Gail, with their trusty club-like flashlights. On the way by the concession on the left side, the strong aroma of buttered popcorn made us stop there years ago, but now it was a waiting room. We were thinking that Al Pasosky’s mother took tickets at the front and Cheryl Thurston as well after Mrs. Pasosky’s retirement. Our pal from Morden, Kaz Holod, joined us for the tour which was led by Cecil Pittman and chaperoned by Tubby Cathcart. We four transplanted Winnipeggers, Ron Kleven, Barry Deveson, Cam Smith and I were deep into our memory bank having just used it for the bowling alley tour only moments earlier.
Work set to begin on CN property

Neepawa Town Council briefs, Tuesday, April 19

Dig-All Construction has begun mobilizing its equipment on the former CN property. The Winkler-based company was selected earlier this month to install a new trunk sewer in the area, as part of a massive infrastructure project planned by the Town of Neepawa. Dig-All had the lowest bid, at $605,400 plus tax. Work on the first phase of the project will likely start in early May.
Crocus Festival coming to Arden

The first Saturday of May, as it has been since 2001, will be a busy one in Arden. May 7 is the day for the 16th annual Arden Crocus Festival. The Crocus Festival is a fun day for the whole family that celebrates Arden’s status as the crocus capital of Manitoba.

Do you hoopla? One of the many services library patrons can access is hoopla, an online collection of digital content selected to provide a variety of resources for all ages. And now, hoopla has a new “Kids Mode” called “hoopla for kids,” where titles in each format – video, music and books – has been selected and brought together in one place to provide a one-stop location for all the great content kids can enjoy.
