The Town of Neepawa is moving ahead with the purchase of a new fire truck. The 2016 International pumper truck has been ordered from Fort Garry Fire Trucks, based out of Winnipeg, at a cost of $399,895, before taxes. A purchase of this type for a municipality is tax exempt however, so the town will receive the cost of the taxes back at a later date.

Rivers Police Service has kicked off our annual Use Your Head campaign. This is a program that encourages elementary students to wear bike helmets. Police will be stopping elementary aged children, if they are observed wearing a helmet, and their name will be entered into  a draw for a bike, donated by Canadian Tire. Auxiliary Constable Dallas Scott has once again worked hard at putting together a number of sponsors which include Canadian Tire, McDonald’s, Robins Doughnuts and Old Dutch.

When Eleanor Bertin (daughter of George and Anne Krahn) was 11 years old she thought of writing a book. The idea struck her while at her home on the farm 2.5 miles east of Rivers. Life happened and now, 45 years later, that book has been published; it became available last month. When Eleanor came home for a visit in mid-April, she left some copies with her mother. You may contact Anne (204-328-7529) to purchase one or order from www.eleanorbertinauthor.com, Amazon, Chapters/Indigo, most major Christian bookstores across Canada or as an e-book on Kindle.
