Photo submitted by Norma Forsman. Neepawa’s Manitoba Telephone System building became the library in 1967. When the Neepawa Library moved to its current location, this building was demolished and became the parking lot for the Beautiful Plains Credit Union.

 

Neepawa Public Library celebrates 50th anniversary

There was a historical occasion in Neepawa this past Thursday as the community’s library celebrated its 50th anniversary. The Neepawa Public Library held an open house from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Guests were treated to cake, coffee and to read over a collection of newspaper articles detailing the library’s history.

A Night of “Déjà Vu” Entertainment!

On Saturday, Nov. 17, the Neepawa Legion Branch and Ladies Auxiliary are joining forces for a community fundraiser entitled, “Déjà Vu”.  All funds will be used to establish something permanent to honour the Veterans’ graves at Neepawa’s Riverside Cemetery.

After years of neglect, “The Castle” is finally torn down

What was once a local landmark is now nothing more than a memory, as the Davidson House (aka. The Castle) has finally been demolished. The once historic three-storey house located at 344 Main St. in Neepawa was taken down Tuesday, Oct. 9 by Total Demolition Ltd. of Portage la Prairie.

Canadian farm writers get a taste of Neepawa

Neepawa businesses HyLife and The Farmery were on the itinerary for the Canadian Farm Writers Association tour. A pork cook-off was conducted complete with a panel of judges.

A large contingent from the Canadian Farm Writers Association converged on Neepawa on Sept. 21 to tour two local businesses. The group had a tour of the Farmery brewery and attended an information presentation by HyLife. Both local businesses showcased their growth and success as local Ag industry companies in expansion mode.
