An opportunity to learn from one another

Members of Rivers Women’s Institute (WI) love a good discussion about relevant topics. The program at the Sept. 11 meeting took the form of an informal conference on the topic of food literacy. Information was shared about Brandon Community Gardens Network and the city’s Good Food Box program. After that, each member took her turn to offer suggestions for better eating, better cooking and better growing. Everyone had something to contribute, including ideas about how to use up small bits of leftovers. Members expressed the wish that all women would have an opportunity to learn how to cook healthy food from scratch. How can we make that happen?

Driver advised to heed signs

Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation (MHHC), along with Rivers Police Service, are asking residents of Rivers (and area) to abide by signage and vehicle restrictions on privately-owned property or they run the risk of being charged with trespassing. The property in question is owned by MHHC and is situated in town limits on the east side of Rivers, south of Hwy. 25. The 135 acres of land was donated by the Wareham family in 1998 to MHHC.

Council clips - Sept 18, 2015

RM of Oakview - Sept 8:

Gravel crushing is being done in the McIntyre pit.   All West Group will crush an additional 10,000 yards at Sharpe’s pit. Additional information is to be obtained regarding a gravel purchase agreement with Krahn’s.
