In July of 2014, Alyx Delaloye was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of six.

When she was at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, her family was able to stay at Manitoba’s Ronald McDonald House so they could be close by. In the fall of 2014, the Delaloye family was nominated to be the spokespeople for Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba (RMHMB) for 2015. This role involved going to different events to support the charity and talking about how the program had affected their lives.

While they were at the 26th Annual Tournament of Champions golf tournament in Headingley on Sept. 10, Delaloye saw her chance to give a little bit back. During the tournament, where her father and brother were playing, she stayed at the club house with her mother, drawing pictures. That evening after the tournament, an auction was held. Different businesses had donated prizes to be auctioned off with all the proceeds going to RMHMB. Delaloye asked if she could auction off three of the pictures she had drawn that day.

They put them up for sale and each picture was sold for $200, which all went to RMHMB along with the rest of the auction’s proceeds. That night Delaloye made $600 for the charity that has been helping her and her family just by drawing three pictures.
