Awesome Race coming next month

If you are a fan of the popular TV show Amazing Race and have always wanted to enter, check out Awesome Race for Breath! Teams of two fundraise for The Lung Association Manitoba to earn their place at the start line on Saturday, Oct. 24 at The Town Centre, Brandon. Teams solve clues to find 12 pit stops around the city to complete fun and zany challenges. The first team back wins! But it won’t be that easy! There are bump cards, detours and U-turns along the way to keep it interesting. You don’t have to be an athlete – the challenges are meant to be fun.

Neepawa Library enjoyed another busy summer with a well-attended TD Summer Reading Club for young readers.  Many keen readers enjoyed reading books and participating in the group activities offered by the library. We hope this is the start of an exciting life of reading.

If all goes to plan, by next spring, Neepawa will be home to North America’s first estate brewery.  On Sept. 3, Farmery announced a deal to purchase the former Mazer Equipment building on Highway 5 North in Neepawa. The goal to have it brewing and offering tours for the spring of 2016.

Seniors. With Canada’s baby-boomer population aging, what support for seniors would you like to see? Are there alternatives to help seniors when the government supports (CPP/OAS) aren’t enough to offset a rising cost of living and health costs? On the flip side, what programs would you like to see help young Canadians better save for retirement?
