Neepawa is a very weird place when it comes to engagement. It’s a community that on one hand is full of people who volunteer their time and talents. A local figure once said to me that it’s a town of about 4,000 people with about 5,000 volunteers. In that sense, we are not apathetic. But in terms of understanding how the decisions our local governments make affect our lives, we’re a train wreck.

The past several weeks have been tough slugging with my studies. I feel a need for frivolity coming on. For starters, I decided to practice what I teach. I encourage people who feel alone or lonely to reach out. We are not mind readers and can’t know what someone else needs.
