To hear politicians, voters and media talk about the attributes they admire in a leader, one would think that people want one who shows a high level of moral goodness. The leader should be happily married, have well-behaved children. They should have a successful career prior to entering politics. Once they get elected, they should be faithful to their spouse, never have stolen any money from anyone and be completely honest in every way.

The air felt different, alive and fresh. Gone was the heavy curtain that smothered every breath. In days I can recall, it would have been a refreshing rain that brought the change. Now a cold front moving in made my outlook brighter.

Those are the questions that should be on everyone’s minds as the summer of 2018 rolls along. This is a municipal election year in Manitoba and it is time for all good people to be thinking about their town or municipal council and who will or should be on that council after election day.
