There was very little down time for David Single and the new council in the R.M. of Westlake Gladstone. The group is already starting to prepare for its four-year tenure representing the region.

New seniors housing to be developed

In spite of the Kinsmen project not receiving provincial funding to redevelop the former EVL site, the group is planning an alternative project for the site. Kinsmen Seniors Inc. president Grant Lukin says, “We are looking at a staged alternative for the site.”

On Tuesday, NACI student Lina Gordon was one of 10 students recognized with a Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.  This new award highlights young individuals who volunteer their time to help others and to build a smarter and more caring nation. The award was presented to Gordon at the Evening of Champions, held the day before We Day 2014. The award was presented on behalf of the Governor General from Craig Kielburger, the co-founder of Free the Children.
