An evening of delightful music was presented by the NACI Chorale’s presentation of Songs and Sweets on Tuesday, June 6, at Knox Presbyterian Church. Under the direction of Blair Chapman, the concert also included solo and group performances, with musical accomplishment by Carolyn Durston, Dasha Chekovskaya and Blair Chapman. Cookies, cakes and refreshments were available at the conclusion of the concert.

For Kailyn Hanke, Canada’s past and future collided in Halifax last month. NACI Grade 10 student and HOPE member Hanke travelled to Halifax to take part in one of four regional Canada 150 & Me forums. Across Canada, the forums brought together a total of 150 students to talk about issues facing Canadians. Hanke was one of 36 students attending the Halifax event, which focused on immigration and diversity, with the forum itself taking place at Pier 21, the historic point of entry for many Canadians.

Canada's 1st North American Lumber started in Rivers

North American Lumber was founded in Rivers in 1906 and today, has yards in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. To coincide with Canada 150 celebrations and more specifically the lieutentant-governor visit to Rivers on Friday, June 9, Rivers and District Chamber of Commerce decided to honour this longevity with a bronze plaque.

Camp Day comes to Neepawa

On May 31, Neepawa Tim Hortons celebrated Camp Day. In this national campaign, proceeds from that day’s coffee sales are donated to the Tim Horton Children Foundation (THCF) to send kids from low income homes on an unforgettable camp experience. Kids attending camp gain the skills and confidence to build a brighter future. Throughout the day, community volunteers, such as the Spruce Plains RCMP, were on hand to help serve customers.
