On April 11 The Resilient Journey conference at Rivers Collegiate was attended by 143 people from across Westman. “This wellness event far surpassed our expectations,” commented Esther Krahn, planning committee volunteer and member of Rivers and Area Palliative Care. “When I think back to the beginning of our planning and having many community partners around the table discussing wellness ideas, I wondered how and what would end up taking shape.”

Crossroads This Week
At a well-attended nomination meeting held at Strathclair Arena on Saturday, April 25, Shoal Lake businessman Greg Nesbitt was elected as the candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba in Riding Mountain for next year’s provincial election. Nesbitt, who has published newspapers in the area since 1977, defeated Rob Gillan of Onanole and Duane Klimack of Silverton.

The McCreary-based Dead Ox Trailblazers mountain biking club is introducing a new after school program. Called Dead Ox Sprockets, the cycling program is unique to the area. The program is affiliated with the Manitoba Cycling Associations "Kids of Mud" learn to mountain bike program.
