The Rotary Club of Neepawa has donated $1,000 to the Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute HOPE program. The money is to assist HOPE’s commitment to Free the Children, an international charity and youth movement founded in 1995 with the aim of empowering young people to become socially engaged.
Field set for Neepawa by-election

The field has officially been set for a by-election in Neepawa to fill a vacant council seat. Three candidates, Darryl Gerrard, Don Walmsley and Christine Waddell have formally filled their paperwork. The candidates are seeking the council chair vacated by Jodi Baker in April.
Missing Rapid City woman found dead

Just before 7 p.m. on May 5 Spruce Plains RCMP were alerted to a missing person from Rapid City. Nicole Marie Jones, 42, was last seen on May 4; police were concerned for her well-being. On May 9 at approximately 8 p.m. Spruce Plains RCMP located Jones. She was found deceased and no foul play is suspected.

The week of May 3-9 was designated National Hospice Palliative Care Week and its planners encouraged people to spread the message on the importance of quality hospice palliative care in our country, and talk to at least 10 people in one’s circle of connections about the importance and availability of palliative care services. In Canada today, only 16-30 per cent (depending on where one lives) of people who die have access to hospice palliative care and end-of-life services. The goal of good palliative care is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in care for persons approaching death, so that the burdens of suffering, loneliness and grief are lessened.
