Cardale Church celebrates centennial

According to Footprints & Chalk Dust, the history book of the 1981 Cardale Reunion Committee, it was in 1915 that pioneers of Cardale Methodist Church agreed to build a permanent place for worship. They had previously been meeting in Cardale (founded in the late 1880s) hall but by November 1915 their beautiful brick structure was built and ready for  use. When Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian congregations agreed to amalgamate in June 1925, United Church of Canada was born.

RCMP investigating theft of tools near Carberry

Blue Hills RCMP are seeking the public's assistance for the following incident; a theft of tools that  occurred at a rural property six miles North West of Carberry, Manitoba.

On May 16, 2015, police received a report from the property owner. It was reported that sometime during a two week period, between Saturday May 2, 2015 and May 16, 2015, suspect(s) entered a shop and proceeded to steal a Mig Welder, a Chop Saw, Solar Battery Pac, and two Generators. Total value of the stolen items are approximately $3500.

Gone but not forgotten

Although not an official holiday or celebration in Canada, several Legion branches try to plan a memorial service for their war dead as close to D-Day as possible. In Rivers, the 2015  Decoration Day ceremony was Sunday, June 7. In fact, Branch No. 75 basically honoured veterans, dead or alive, all weekend long.
