Since 2000, Victoria’s Quilts Canada has been distributing handmade quilts to provide physical and spiritual comfort to cancer patients and survivors. Local resident William (Bill) Mabon (centre) recently received a quilt from Victoria’s Quilts Canada Neepawa chapter members Marg VanBuskirk (left) and Audrey Heffell (right). Mabon’s wife Maggie says that the quilt is a perfect size and is soft and lightweight. “We wanted to express our appreciation to Victoria’s Quilts and each and every person who had a hand in sewing the quilt,” said Maggie, continuing, “It’s such a blessing, it reassures us that there are a lot of kind and loving people in the world.” Neepawa is the only Manitoba branch of the national charity and last year, they made over 78 quilts.
