On Wednesday, March 16, area residents were invited to the open house of New Hope Health Centre. In her introduction, owner Lisa Davie said, "30 years ago, I studied reflexology and nutrition at an institution in Winnipeg. I believe in thinking outside of the box and have consistently upgraded my schooling and studies. I opened my first clinic in reflexology in Stephenfield, Manitoba. Then operated a clinic on Mountain Avenue 18 years ago. The business, comprising of 1,000 sq. ft. was moved to our home here and then last October, we decided we required more space.

A Neepawa man is facing several charges in connection with the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine. On Wednesday, March 30, Spruce Plains RCMP executed a search warrant in Neepawa, which resulted in the arrest of Joel Blanco, 37, who has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA Schedule 1 (Methamphetamine) and Produce Substance under CDSA (Methamphetamine).

Fatal crash near Macdonald

An 18-year-old Winnipeg man has died after a crash with a transport truck on Highway 16 near Macdonald. RCMP say that the collision happened on Sunday, Mar. 27 at around 11 p.m. when the man’s vehicle crossed the centre line and struck the back of the truck’s trailer. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver of the truck wasn’t injured. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
Lee's Restaurant in Rivers sold

Lee’s Restaurant in Rivers has been sold. Wen and Wendy Chen bought it in February 1992 from Peter and Yi Lam. While they are not yet ready to officially retire, as astute business people they knew they should accept the opportunity when it came, for if they waited another 10 or more years when they did want to retire, a buyer might not be found. And so, on April 1 the sale was official.
