Haunted house draws a crowd

On Wednesday, Oct. 26 to Saturday, Oct. 29, the Arden Haunted House opened its doors for a fifth year of frightening fun. The haunted house, which utilized the Arden curling rink, saw 500 people pass through the winding corridors and scare-filled scenes.

October’s operation

Chief of Rivers Police

Rivers Police Service responded to a total of 61 calls for service this past month. Our police service had received numerous complaints of poaching in and around Rivers; a joint forces operation with a provincial conservation officer resulted in a male being charged with three counts of illegal possession of deer. We would also like to congratulate everyone for being so well behaved on Halloween; police had no Halloween-related calls that evening. Following is the October statistics.

Harding to host hostel rep

Harding Community Club consists of six members, whose mandate is to actively participate and support community activities. There has always been a ladies group in the community, dating back to 1893, but the name has changed several times over the years, from church groups to Women’s Institute and now, a community club. Our building is the former church, which was originally built at Greenwood Cemetery in 1893.
