Two years ago, we had a Neepawa school reunion, at a time when most of us had just turned 70 years of age and approximately 40 people showed up. This time around, we included those who were a little younger and a little older, which produced a tally of about 90 people.

Most people are unaware of the beautiful Healing Garden at the Neepawa Health Centre. But, for those who are aware of it, it’s a special place for those in time of need. Down and around the corner at the Neepawa hospital, down by the Cancer Care facilities, there is a garden called ‘the Healing Garden’, which came to be from cancer care donations. The garden has been there for 11 years.

80 years ago
Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1937
Several residents on Main Street have commended the editorial in the last issue of the Press regarding the surfacing of the part of #4 highway passing through town. They have suffered so much from the dust that they do not favour taking any chances on the salt road bed and there is some talk of getting up a petition to present to the town council at the meeting next Friday night asking that the bituminous treatment be applied to the road.

New public roads in Neepawa

A public hearing was held on Tuesday, Aug. 1, to discuss Neepawa’s development of the former CN property and the creation of new public roads. The proposal would see the establishment of two public roads with direct access to Highway 5 (PTH 5) and the loss of highway access for an existing one (Crocus Drive).

Update 8:41 pm: Can officially confirm that Gerald and Vera Barber have been located. The couple was found on a back road just west of Eden. Just over 75 vehicles and 125-150 people believed to have assisted in the informal search. The family thanks everyone was participated.
Update 8:08 pm: Receiving reports that Gerald and Vera Barber of Neepawa have been found safe. Checking to confirm at this time.
Original RCMP Release: Neepawa RCMP are looking for missing elderly couple. On Aug. 6, 2017, at 1:00 am, the Neepawa RCMP received a report of a missing elderly couple from the community. Vera Barber, 83-years-old, and her husband Gerald, 92-years-old, were last seen at the Neepawa hospital on August 5 at 2:00 pm when Vera arrived to pick up Gerald.
