Michelle Gerrard has 'moxie'

The strength, perseverance and ‘moxie’ of a Neepawa business owner has been recognized. Moxie Trades, a global company that designs, manufactures and distributes safety footwear exclusively for woman, recently named Michelle Gerrard its Moxiest Work Woman of the Year.

Looking back - 1977: George Rey retires after 50 years

80 years ago. Tuesday, December 21, 1937: Santa Claus arrived from the north on the train Saturday and entertained over 1,000 youngsters ranging in age form one year to seventy. He visited with the boys and girls for 2 hours in the afternoon and gave them each a little gift. The boys and girls will not soon forget the thrill of Santa’s visit.

This time of year has always been a special time ever since I can remember.  It brought the joy of family and friends getting together by enjoying a special meal and playing games.  Everyone got involved and fellowship abounded.  It was also about remembering those who could not sit at the table with us, the people we miss, loved, and cherished.

Skating safety supremely important

Despite a mild start to the season, it seems winter temperatures are starting to set in for Neepawa and the surrounding area. That means that many people are eager to start skating -- at the indoor rink at the Yellowhead Centre, outside at the Flats, or on frozen waterways like lakes, ponds, rivers and streams.
