Bee hives poisoned

Brandon RCMP are investigating the report of the poisoning of hundreds of honey-producing bee hives, resulting in thousands of dead bees and a substantial financial loss. It is believed this occurred sometime between Aug. 14 and Sept. 3, at two separate locations, six and 10 miles northwest of Brandon in the RM of Elton. Anyone with any information on this serious matter is asked to contact Brandon RCMP at 204-726-7522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Town of Rivers, Sept. 2: Permission was granted for public works to install a sign on the east side of town to recognize the 1964 Rivers Rams football team as a Manitoba Hall of Fame 2013 inductee.

On Sept 19, the Town of Neepawa announced that council had accepted Richard Beachey's resignation. Beachey came to Neepawa from St. Thomas, Ont. in 2012 to become the Town's CAO. The release stated that he resigned in order to pursue other opportunities.

The new space for Whitey’s Fitness Body Shop in Neepawa is taking shape. Earlier this week, the business completed its move to the basement at the former Co-op building, on Mountain Avenue. Owner and operator Sherrie Hockin said the new location provides them with much more space.
Sears outlet returning to Neepawa

It’s official, a Sears outlet will be reopening in Neepawa this fall. Local business owner Maureen Turner signed the papers last week that will see her take over the Sears catalogue business in Neepawa.
