Every year the flu season in Manitoba begins in late fall and it usually lasts until spring. For 2014-15 the flu vaccine is available for free to all Manitobans.

The past two issues of the Rivers Banner have promoted a new company in Rivers and then its community service. Clean Under Pressure worked with Rivers Elementary School to co-ordinate a car wash on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Rivers is on the Paws Across Canada national tour route, thanks to Rivers Elementary School. Featuring spokes-pup Toby, a lovable Chesapeake Bay retriever, and Toby’s “side-kick,” international motivational speaker and best-selling author Charmaine Hammond, Team Toby is gearing up to inspire schools, communities and individuals with messages of kindness, workplace respect and community resilience. They will be presenting at Rivers Elementary School on Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.

Thanksgiving day crash east of Minnedosa
