Neepawa RCMP investigate fatal head-on collision

On November 2, 2015, shortly after midnight, officers from the Neepawa RCMP were called to a collision involving two vehicles in the northbound lane on Highway 5, approximately 4 km north of Highway 16 in the RM of Rosedale.

Enrolment increase at Rivers Collegiate

Rivers Collegiate Institute (RCI) principal Mike Klassen has remarked via the school’s newsletter, The Rambler, that although there has been a slight increase in student enrolment in recent years, the increase soared this year with 33 in Grade 7 and 28 in Grade 8. As a result, there has been a need for more teacher time. This extra time will be focused on English and math; Brenda Sokoloski was coaxed out of her two-month retirement to fill this position.

Rivers Ag Society Fair supper needs support

Rivers Ag Society held a meeting on Oct. 21, which was the first time we had the opportunity to review our July fair. It was encouraging to confirm attendance was higher than last year, as well as in the Manitoba Gymkhana Rodeo Association event and our horse show.

Rolling River Festival returning to Minnedosa

Rolling River Festival of the Arts (RRFA) usually alternates between the towns of Minnedosa and Rivers every two years. Although the festival was to move to Rivers in 2016, they were unable to put together a committee to organize and host it. Not wanting to have a lapse, the Minnedosa committee decided to once again host RRFA in their town. Dates have been set for Monday, March 14 through to Friday, March 18, 2016.

Bazaar benefits "babies"

What do you do when you love to organize and fundraise? Create an event and take it from there! That’s is exactly what we, Heather Gray and Sherri Dziver, are doing. We plan to do something every year and donate the proceeds to local non-profit organizations. We have chosen Riverdale Splashpark and Riverdale Community Daycare as benefactors for this inaugural event. After costs are taken care of, we will be splitting the proceeds between these two organizations, with the exception of the 50/50 draw.
