The 19th annual presentations of the Manitoba 4-H Young Horse Development Project (YHDP) were held Sept. 5, at the Westoba Agricultural Centre of Excellence, in Brandon, Manitoba. The project provides a venue for senior 4-H members to demonstrate their knowledge gained through the 4-H Equine Program, as well as to showcase the stock being bred and raised on Manitoba’s equine ranches.

Cat and dog overpopulation is a real problem facing Manitoba and local vet clinics in the area are doing their part to alleviate the situation during Manitoba Spay Day.
Manitoba Spay Day is a new province-wide initiative put on by the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) to combat dog and cat overpopulation. On Nov. 2, several vet clinics in the province will be offering spay and neuter services for dogs and cats at discounted rates.

On Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m., the Rotary Club will be hosting its annual TV Auction. This year, part of the money raised will go towards the project to get new playground equipment at Neepawa’s Hazel M. Kellington Elementary School (HMK).
Minnedosa RCMP investigate injured dogs

On October 19, 2016, at approximately 4:30 pm, Minnedosa RCMP responded to a complaint of missing dogs in Clanwilliam, Manitoba. Officers attended a residence to discover there was damage done to the dog kennels and the property. Two dogs, Duke (Norwegian Elkhound Husky Cross) and Duchess (Norwegian Elkhound Border Collie Cross), were gone. An investigation was launched.
