Province announces tougher COVID-19 rules

The Province of Manitoba has announced tougher public health restrictions just a week before Christmas. Effective Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 12:01 a.m., private indoor gatherings will be reduced to the household plus 10 guests if everyone is vaccinated. For anyone who is unvaccinated, the limit is the household plus five guests. Children 12 and under are excluded. As well as that alteration, other changes included in the announcment are as follows:
Public indoor gatherings will be reduced to 25 per cent or 25 people (proof of vaccine not required).
Outdoor gatherings drop to 50 people or 50 per cent capacity.
Gyms, movie theatres, museums, libraries are reduced to 50 per cent capacity with proof of vaccination.
Dr. Brent Roussin, chief provincial public health officer, and Health Minister Audrey Gordon made the announcement late Friday afternoon.
The new health orders will last for three weeks and are currnetly scheduled to expire on Jan.11, 2022.
