RM of Oakview, March 13: An inquiry if an attachment could be purchased to put on snowploughs so ridges are not left on driveways was received by the office. Variation orders were granted to: Eddy and Arenda Vanderdeen to establish a non-farm dwelling on part of the northwest quarter-section of 28-13-20; Sean Common to establish a non-farm dwelling on the northeast quarter-section of 13-14-21 with the maximum required site area of 10 acres varied to 18.46 acres.

Minnedosa’s economic development officer Chantelle Parrot reviewed their work done with Rapid City Chamber of Commerce, Rapid City Beach and Reservoir Committee, Oak River Inn, Rapid City rink, Rapid City Museum, Southwestern Manitoba Zero Waste System and assisting an individual from Oakview set up a business.

They are continuing to work with Bell-MTS to improve service issues along Hwy.10 and into Rapid City; projects that could be worked on in the forthcoming year were discussed. Roof repairs at Rapid City rink were discussed. No new information has been received regarding speed limits into Rapid City, but it was reported that legislation may be changing authorizing municipalities to regulate speeds. Council agreed to buy a two-way radio for Rapid City public works. Councillor Kaye Wolstenholme was authorized to attend the Westman Opportunities Leadership Group open house to finalize the region’s investment strategy to attract a major soybean processor to Manitoba; the open house will be held in Brandon on March 22. Because of conflicts with other meetings, council agreed to change their April meetings to April 3 and 17.

Finances: Midwest Recreation District was paid its levy of $14,327.13. Half the levy ($12,939.52) to Little Saskatchewan River Conservation District will be paid on April 1. Accounts of $99,071.65 and unpaid invoices of $47,381.75 were passed for payment. Celtic Power & Machining was paid $2,864.56 for work done on the sand truck and to manufacture a post pounder. The next meeting is March 27 at 7:30 p.m.
