Rivers & Area Community Foundation (RACF) encourages residents of Riverdale and surrounding area to make a monetary donation to RACF on Saturday, Nov. 18 as part of Endow Manitoba’s 24-Hour Giving Challenge.

Make a gift to our unrestricted fund during this challenge and your gift will grow, with support from The Winnipeg Foundation (TWF) and the province of Manitoba. For this one day only (Nov. 18), gifts made to RACF’s unrestricted fund will be stretched by TWF $1 for every $5 donated. New this year, the province will also stretch each $5 gift by $1. This means every $5 gift becomes $7; both TWF and the government will match to a maximum of $2,000 per foundation. This is the biggest stretch ever available during the challenge; there has never been a better time to help RACF and the towns/organizations we support.

“This is the fourth year we’ve held the 24-Hour Giving Challenge,” says Rick Frost, TWF CEO. “Almost $1.2 million was raised in previous years. With the new support from the province of Manitoba, we have an expanded opportunity.”

“On behalf of our government, I want to encourage Manitobans to show once again why we are known as Canada's most generous province, by supporting the important work our community foundations do throughout Manitoba," says Municipal Relations Minister Jeff Wharton. "On Nov. 18 we are partnering with TWF on this year's 24-Hour Giving Challenge to raise funds and ensure our community foundations continue to grow.”

Donations made to RACF tomorrow will help RACF’s capacity to support a wide range of charitable projects in Riverdale and area for generations to come. Donations to a community foundation are pooled and permanently invested; the capital is never spent. Gifts are never spent and the money will always stay in the community. Every year, these investments generate money that is distributed to support local projects. Community foundations provide support that lasts forever.

There are three ways to make a gift to RACF for the 24-Hour Giving Challenge: credit card, online through endowmanitoba.ca on Nov. 18 only; by phone, 1-877-974-3631 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 18 only; by cheque, hand delivered to Craig Allison at Redfern Farm Services no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 or presented at RACF’s gala evening tonight at Rivers Legion Hall. Cheques must be made payable to TWF for tracking matching funds; however, the money still comes to RACF.
