People gathered at Kenton Legion clubroom on Sunday, June 25 for a delicious chicken supper, catered by Houston's Family Restaurant. Dessert was a beautifully-decorated cake, purchased from Country Crocus Bakery in Hamiota, and served with ice cream.

The supper was a farewell to acknowledge that Doug Martindale is retiring from ministry. Organizer and MC for the evening was Margaret Sangster. After supper David Caldwell provided the entertainment with song, accompanying himself on his guitar. Doug told everyone he has enjoyed doing ministry in small towns and going for coffee at the clubroom.

He told us he was leaving with mixed emotions, and that he would miss it. Several people spoke to Doug, recalling their memories of spending time with him. A card was signed by everyone and a beautiful afghan was presented to him on behalf of the Kenton-Shiloh pastoral charge. Best wishes and safe travels were expressed to Doug and Fran, who are travelling to Okanagan Center in British Columbia. Enroute to their retirement home, they will stop at Manitou Beach and Spa at Watrous, Sask. for a short holiday. He will be missed by everyone.

There are six Kenton-area graduates from Hamiota Collegiate this year: Naomi Best, Nick Hatfield, Amber Raycroft, Grady Routledge, Jessica Sparrow and Hannah Tolton. The community wishes the best to all of you in your future endeavours. Congratulations!
