Wow! What a night. There was so much fun had by all in attendance at the Friday, May 12 HELP-hosted purse mystery auction event at Rivers Legion Hall. I am sure if you asked anyone who was there, they would tell you they had a ball. Games were played, laughter was loud and money was raised for a fabulous cause. There was a silent auction, penny raffle, 50/50, door prizes and delicious appetizers.

Esther Krahn is the co-ordinator for Riverdale Palliative Care; she gave a very informative talk about their services. That committee also had a table set up with information for guests to take home. Funds from this evening were given to Riverdale Palliative Care; HELP is thrilled to announce we raised $2,660.04 from the turnout of this event. We have heard excellent feedback about this event, so we will plan on doing this again.

We had many winners from our penny raffle and silent auction on the purses. Our 50/50 winner was Elizabeth Gnitecki with a whopping $108. Door prize winners were Jasmine Duthie (beach bag) and Laura Neel (makeup bag with foot spa treats).

To mark Mother’s Day which was only two days later, we had two begonias we wanted to give away. One was given to the eldest mom in attendance and one to the youngest mother; recipients were Audrey Sadler and Skye Gillis.

We are so grateful for the generosity from our community, as evidenced by donations to this event. We live in such a generous town, with a big heart! We were just ecstatic with the wonderful prizes that were donated, it meant the world to us!

In September we will be putting out our buckets somewhere downtown and have the polls open on our Facebook site. Please make sure you vote for whom you would like to see get the funds from our next event, which will be a Christmas bazaar held in November. See you in the fall!
