The Beautiful Plains School Division (BPSD) Board of Trustees has established a special committee to come up with a plan that will see a new division office building established in Neepawa by July 1988. The board of trustees said the present division office on Hamilton Street fails to meet their office and space requirements and is in need of repairs.
The issue of a new school division office arose during a recent special meeting, at which time renting an office space was discussed in order to fulfill present and future requirements. After discussion, the board determined the renting of space over a 15 to 20 year period could pay the cost of purchasing a new facility.

The issue of whether or not to close a highway approach leading to the town’s industrial park – and whether or not to make the decision in open council – won’t have to be made. It turns out, the town doesn’t even have the right to close the approach, since it crosses over a public reserve belonging to the Rural Municipality of Langford.
The approach the town was looking at closing leads to its industrial park off Highway 16. Although the property is in Langford municipality, the former Department of National Defense training grounds were turned over to the Town when the government ceased operation. However, council found out the public reserve, which fronts the entire property, remained the property of the RM.
“The public reserve is registered with the RM, so the town will go no further with this matter,” said Neepawa’s municipal administrator Ken Jenkins last week. “If the lane is closed, it will be up to Langford council to make the decision.”
