Rivers Police Service has ended another Use Your Head campaign. Elementary students did a fantastic job again this year, wearing their helmets to school, and were duly rewarded for their efforts.
Due to the hard work of auxiliary Constable Dallas Scott, Rivers Police Service had the following sponsors this years: Robins supplied all students a free doughnut, McDonald’s provided a free cheeseburger to all, Old Dutch gave chips for everyone, Louis Dreyfus Commodities supplied a BMX bike and Canadian Tire offered a second bike. This year’s winners of the bikes are Nolan Perrault (BMX) and Drake Burgess.
This is the fourth year of the campaign and the second year Nolan has been the lucky winner pulled at random from the big pile of entry forms in the bucket. As students are stopped by police in May and June and are congratulated for obeying the helmet law, their name is entered in the bike draw. Police Chief Bruce Klassen, Robin’s mascot Robbie and manager Susie Rice attended a special assembly of Rivers Elementary School on Tuesday morning, June 21, to make the draws.
