Summer is almost here and we’re getting ready at the Neepawa Library for the TD Summer Reading Club! All ages of children, from pre-readers to teens, can participate in reading, activities and incentives by entering their names for draws.
This year’s theme is “wild” and we’re looking forward to some wild reading and wild fun! There’s evidence to show that children who continue reading throughout their breaks from school retain a higher level of comprehension and tend to get started in the new school year more quickly. Sign-up starts Monday, June 20 and the program runs through to the end of August.
And why should the kids have all the fun?! We’re also offering an Adult Summer Reading Club this year. From July 4 to Aug. 19, adults can enter once per week into a prize draw by providing a short review of a book. Drop into the library for more information.
Maybe you won’t be staying close to home this summer and don’t want your library books to be overdue. Well, we’re willing to help you stock that shelf for your summer reading at the beach or at the cabin by holding our spring Book Sale from June 20 to 23. Be sure to drop by to pick up something interesting (or something light) for summer reading. We have adult, children’s and non-fiction books for you to choose from.
“You’re never too old, too wacky too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.” – Dr. Seuss
