The Royal Canadian Air Cadets, in partnership with the Air Cadet League of Canada, has been training youth in Canada for 75 years. Throughout its history, No. 9 Neepawa Air Cadet Squadron has attracted youth  from Neepawa, Kelwood, Riding Mountain, Erickson, Onanole, Minnedosa, Franklin, Mentmore, Brookdale, Arden, Gladstone, Mountain Road, Birnie, Eden, Wellwood and Edrans.

No. 9 Neepawa was one of the first air cadet squadrons in Canada, formed in September 24, 1941.

On May 26, as the squadron turns out for its Annual Ceremonial Review, which typically marks the end of the training year, Captain Velvet Pomedli from the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Prairie) and Bill Zuk from the Air Cadet League of Canada (Manitoba) were in attendance, along with family, friends and well-wishers. Zuk presented the squadron with a proclamation from the Province of Manitoba declaring 2016 as the “Year of the Air Cadet in Manitoba” in recognition of the Air Cadet Movement celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
