Rivers Police Service would like to remind motorists we are running our annual distracted driving/Road Watch campaign. Police will be targeting drivers using their cell phones, and other high-risk driving offences such as impaired driving, speeding and failure to wear a seat belt.

Rivers Police will have a ZERO tolerance during this campaign, which runs from now until the end of October. Telling you about this campaign is as much about prevention and education as enforcement, so we hope drivers will be mindful of the laws of the road.

Rivers Police Service would also like to remind the community that when transporting debris from your property to the dump you are required, under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), to tarp your loads. The charge is under section 61(2) HTA and carries a fine of $237.50. We have received numerous complaints with regards to insecure loads. Let’s all do our part to keep Rivers and area clean and tidy.
