Ladies from Kenton Legion Auxiliary travelled to Virden on Saturday, March 5 to attend a district meeting.

Ladies from Kenton also travelled to Hamiota on Friday, March 4 for World Day of Prayer. It was a wonderful afternoon; I (Paulette) love to learn about different countries. This year’s service was written by the World Day of Prayer committee of Cuba. The topic twas Receive Children, Receive Me. Cuba means "cultivated land." It is the largest Caribbean island, is shaped like an alligator and is called "the key of the Gulf" as it is located at the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico. Population is 11,116,000 persons. The climate is warm, humid subtropical with an average temperature of 25.5C. Spanish is the official and only language spoken in Cuba.

The national flower of Cuba is the white butterfly jasmine. The royal palm is the national tree; it appears on their coat of arms and is a symbol of the fertility of the land.

During the service we had different readings, hymns prayers and an offering. In Cuba people greet each other with a kiss on the cheek and a hug or handshake; we did this and said, “Buenas tardes!” for “Good afternoon.” Refreshments were served and a time of visitation was had by all.
