Pair of meetings held by Plumas UCW

Plumas United Church Women president Norma Watson opened the meeting with the reading of “A Time to Remember”. Members present reported six visits made to those sick or shut in. Minutes were read and accepted; thanks were expressed to the following: Laurel for taking down the Thanksgiving display; to all who helped with the fall supper; those who worked, provided lunch, etc. at Ralph Kirkland’s funeral; the conveners and helpers at the Legion supper; and to Wendy, Joyce and all helpers and donors for the upcoming Christmas Tea and Bake sale.

Correspondence included: Laurel has already sent the donation to Pins/Pals for the Christmas stockings for the residents of TCM; World Day of Prayer materials have been ordered; further information regarding the painting of the annex floor was presented.

Under new business, Laurel will put up the Church Christmas tree and the mitten tree for the White Gift service and Communion to be held Nov. 29. This will be a Circle Marsh service; Plumas will be responsible for the main course dishes for the potluck lunch.

Our Christmas supper will be held Nov. 24 at Neepawa prior to our visit at Country Meadows – Wendy is making arrangements for this visit. We will take dainties and all necessary items from the annex to complete the visit.

Plans were completed for the Christmas Tea and Bake sale to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 28; 

Pollyanna will purchase a plant for the sanctuary for Christmas.

Upcoming dates were set:

• Longest night service Dec. 20

• Christmas eve service – Dec. 24 at 4:00 p.m.

• Pancake supper – Feb. 9

• Next meeting – Feb. 18, 7:00 p.m.

• World Day of Prayer – March 6, 9:30 a.m.

• Soup, Bun and Dessert supper – March 16

During the annual meeting, reports were circulated for the member's approval. Pat motioned and Wendy seconded that the annual reports be accepted as presented. There are no changes in the executive. Carried.

Pollyanna gave the annual and November reports - $50 will be turned over to this office for the upcoming mailing of the numerous Christmas cards.

Meeting closed with the Mizpah benediction.
