RM of Oakview - Sept 8:
Gravel crushing is being done in the McIntyre pit. All West Group will crush an additional 10,000 yards at Sharpe’s pit. Additional information is to be obtained regarding a gravel purchase agreement with Krahn’s.
Council authorized additional crushing of 1,000 yards at Couch’s pit and up to 5,000 yards at McIntyre’s. Gravel has been placed on the road going into Rapid City landfill site; compactors and balers for recycling were discussed. The Rapid City water rate bylaw passed first reading. An inspection still needs to be completed of Oak River’s municipal shed. Costs incurred to date for road closing in Rapid City were reviewed One application was received for the casual employee. A quote to complete work at Rapid City beach was reviewed; more information is to be obtained. RM of Harrison Park will review a request to cost share reconstruction on a boundary road. Assistant CAO Lois Sharpe will attend a Manitoba Municipal Administrator’s Association district meeting on Monday, Sept. 21 in Sandy Lake; both Oakview offices will be closed that day. The assessment branch has requested permission to amalgamate tax rolls on properties with different title numbers, if requested by the property owners; Council has concerns if it is a serviced lot and the assessment decreases; therefore, council resolved no tax rolls would be amalgamated if they are a serviced lot unless ratepayers amalgamate title numbers through the land titles office. A ratepayer concern regarding the paving project in Oak River was noted. Rapid City & District Chamber of Commerce informed council of the federal election candidate night they are hosting on Oct. 6 at Rapid City Legion at 6:45 p.m. It was noted that Infrastructure & Transportation provides one-time grants to municipalities when abandoning departmental roads to them.
Finances: Council accepted the Whetter Landscaping Ltd. tender of $14,276.81 for work at Rapid City Fire Hall; work is to be done by Oct. 31. Council agreed to purchase a new quick attach one-way plow and new front lift Group Quick Attach, and trade in one Balderson quick attach, for $10,900 less $3,500 trade. Accounts of $589,779.71 and unpaid invoices of $68,454.25 were passed for payment. The next meeting is Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
